NOTES FOR STRANGERS:
– THIS IS AS CLOSE TO AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF INTELLECTUAL INTERESTS AND EXPLORATIONS OF SRZ BEYOND THE COURSES HE HAS OFFERED AND WHICH ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CATALOG. IF DEEPLY INVESTED IN A PARTICULAR THEME OR COURSE, YOU CAN APPROACH SRZ WITH YOUR INTEREST TO SEE IF AND HOW YOU COULD PURSUE ITS EXPLORATION UNDER HIS DIRECTION.
– YOU MAY NOTICE THAT THERE ARE A CLUSTER OF THEMES HERE. THE FOUR PARALLELS COURSES (ISLAMIC STUDIES, RELIGIOUS STUDIES, SOUTH ASIAN STUDIES AND HUMANITIES) ARE LISTED AND ORGANIZED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE THREAD RUNNING THROUGH ALL FOUR IS RELATIVELY EASIER TO PARSE OUT. THIS IS ALSO TO COMMUNICATE THAT, THOUGH VARIED, MY CORE INTERESTS ARE EXPLORED IN AND THROUGH ALL THE FOUR FACETS OF MY TEACHING AND INTELLECTUAL ENGAGEMENTS AT DAVIDSON.
– ALL RS THEMES MAY BE OFFERED EITHER AS A THEME THROUGH REL 301, AS AN INDEPENDENT STUDY, OR AS A SEPARATE REL COURSE.
– ALL ISLAMIC STUDIES’ THEMES MAY AGAIN BE OFFERED AS AN INDEPENDENT STUDY OR AS A MAJOR THEME THROUGH EXISTING COURSES. MY ISLAMIC STUDIES COURSES TEND TO HAVE NEW THEMES IN A NEW ITERATION OF AN EXISTING COURSE. SEE EXAMPLES UNDER PAST COURSES SECTION HERE (LINK PLEASE)
– SOUTH ASIAN STUDIES COURSES AS WELL ARE POTENTIALLY POSSIBLE AS AN INDEPENDENT STUDY, AS A SEPARATE NEW COURSE, OR AS A THEMATIC EMPHASIS THROUGH AN EXISTING COURSE.
